Here are some details on what Manta Scuba has to offer, should you decide to take up the challenge of diving!

Manta Scuba’s Scuba Diver Course is a two-week programme. By the end of this course, you would be a qualified Scuba Diver and will be able to go and dive at both inland dive sites and at the coast! Your Scuba Diver Course can be viewed as your license to dive – it introduces you to the underwater world and provides you with the knowledge required to ensure safe and enjoyable dives.

There is some degree of flexibility in moving some days around in order to suit the participants. The lectures and pool sessions are held in Chartwell North Estate and Bass Lake. The inland dive site is Bass Lake and is found just off the R59 to Vereeniging.

In commencing your course, you would be required to purchase some basic equipment. This would include a mask, snorkel, weight belt, fins and a wetsuit. Whilst you are able to rent this equipment, we highly recommend that you purchase your own, as it is important to become familiar with your own equipment, and select and use equipment that you are comfortable with, and that fits your body.

We have contacts within the diving industry and would be in a position to offer you special deals on this equipment. This is usually discussed in your first lecture with us.

Importantly, you would also be required to obtain a diving medical, from a diving doctor. This is a medical, which ascertains that you are physically fit to undertake scuba diving activities. It is essential that we have this medical prior to commencing any pool sessions with you. We would be able to provide you with the names of some diving physicians and forward you the necessary forms for completion.

Given that we have both NAUI and PADI qualified instructors within the Manta Scuba team, you can choose to qualify with either agency. We would be happy to speak to you about the differences between the two agencies and the benefit of qualifying with either.

As you may already have realised from browsing our website, we are obsessive divers and are very passionate about our diving. Beyond making you a Scuba Diver, we are interested in making you a GOOD Scuba Diver!
As a result, this course is a step-by-step process, with personalised tuition and a great deal of attention to detail. We would ensure that you are comfortable at each step of the way, before proceeding onto the next skill. Furthermore, we try and keep our classes small in order to ensure that we are able to spend sufficient time with all the participants.
